We signed up for the Napa Valley Wine Trolley and the Castello di Amorosa was the first stop on the tour. Because we were part of the wine trolley, we experienced an exclusive tour of the 13th century inspired Tuscan castle and winery.
The tour concluded with wine tasting in one of the private bars. Castello di Amorosa wine is only sold at the castle/winery, so I couldn't leave with purchasing a bottle. I went home with 2015 DOLCINO Gewürztraminer.
Although this is a large castle and winery, taking the tour allows for a more intimate experience. You learn a lot about the history of the estate, the inspiration behind it's decor and wine making process. If you get a really good tour guide, they'll also let you taste more than the five wines you're technically supposed to try during the tasting. (hehe!)
